Tinģere was first mentioned in 1245 as a part of Dundaga County. The Īve Manor was a part of Ārlava County that belonged to Bishopric of Courland. In 1803 Īve Manor belonged to banker from Saint Petersburg Johann Bach, who built a new manor house. Later, the manor house became a property of Baron of Dundaga von Osten-Zaken.

With the help of professional guides you can learn about the manors history, legends and Island of Love. In 2002 Tiņģere Manor was included in the campaign organized by Association of Latvia’s Castles, Palaces and Manors “Let’s Visit Latvia’s Castles, Palaces and Manors”. ‘

Īve Rural Territory is a part of the former Parish of Ārlava. In 1945 Ārlava Parish was disbanded and five new villages were created, one of which was Īve Village with administrative centre in Īve. Since 1948 administrative centre is Tinģere. When the parish was established, in 1990, it also included Ķurbe which was a territory belonging to the former Parish of Dundaga.

The second largest economical centre of the parish is Īve. Īve is famous for the Dutch-style windmill built in 1871.  Near the windmill is an old cemetery, mostly devastated during the post-war period because of gravel excavation.

Also clay deposits have been in Īve Rural Territory.

Children attend kindergarten and Tinģere Elementary School. Schoolchildren can attend Young Guards, tourism and theatre groups and a vocal ensemble.

There are two active women's vocal ensembles "Īve" and "Veldze", amateur theatre, English language learning group, florist hobby group and women's club.

Library of Īve Rural Territory collects and compiles local history materials. The administration of rural territory cooperates with public organizations like "Īves kodols" and Ķurbe Lutheran Church.

Īve Rural Territory is known for nature lovers. The largest fir (girth of trunk is 3.7 meters) in Baltic grows in Īve Park. In the park you can find 25 species of foreign trees and shrubs.

Laumas Nature Park created by Riekstiņi family, which was opened in 2001 deserves a special mention.
The last eleven years this swampy corner of Courland has been turned into a nice recreational place. Traveling along the Path of Bees you can discover the mysteries of bees, learn the ancient techniques of beekeepers and take a look at the bees together with an experienced beekeeper. The Path of Sports waits for you with an interesting obstacle course. Nature, silence and peace-lovers can enjoy the Path of Forest.

In 2003 Path of Minigolf Roberi, a great place for whole family was opened.
