Talsi, Gibuli and Lejre is twinned towns for 20 years. The first cooperation began in 1997 between Bramsnae, which is city in Denmark, and Gibuli. The next cooperation started in 2005 between Gibuli and Bramsnae adn Orisaare. Later the Danish cities unite. In 2007 started cooperation between Gibuli and Lejre. Lejre people have got a lot from this cooperation - children, students, adults, artists, those who are interested in history, and many others. It just shows that we have to offer each other. In 2013 cooperation has been strengthened and the contract was concluded between Lejre communes and municipalities Talsi signed by the chairman of the commune Lejre - Mette Touborga and Talsi chairman - Aivars Lācarus. In the cooperation agreement, Talsi and Lejre agree to maintain regular contact between leaders and relevant departments to cooperate on cultural exchange, educational matters such as “friendship schools”, workshops and exhibitions, as well as business exchanges in fields of tourism, agriculture and accommodation.
One of the goal which linking both places is football. In Summer in 2013 our football team from Talsi was in football’s camp in Lejre. A few months later the chairman of Lejre was in Talsi to assess the possibilities of further cooperation between Talsi Sports School football department and Lejre Football Club.
