The Competition will take place in Talsi from 27 to 29 April, and applications are welcome by 10 March.
The Competition will be organised in three stages – applicants are invited to send a completed application form and a video recording, showing the participant(s) performing two different compositions, to the official Competition e-mail address: firstname.lastname@example.org by 10 March. The received applications and videos will be evaluated by an international jury, and names of the participants who will continue in the 2nd stage of the Competition will be published at www.talsi.lv and www.rdks.lv by 17 March.
Participants of the 2nd stage of the Competition will meet in Talsi. An international jury, composed also of experienced professionals from Malta and Germany, will hear a mandatory composition and a folk song a cappella on the spot (a list of mandatory compositions and musical scores is available at www.talsi.lv and www.rdks.lv). The participants who qualify for the 3rd stage of the Competition will perform two compositions by choice.
The 2nd International Talsi Children and Youth Academic Singing and Vocal Ensemble Competition will take place three days. Participants of the Competition, teachers and other interested parties will be able to participate in master classes given by experienced lecturers, including members of the Competition jury.
In 2015, the Competition was organised for the first time and gathered 69 individual performers and four ensembles from the Baltics, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Russia and Poland. The man prize Grand Prix was given to Hanna Okońska from the Academy of Music Bydgoszcz / teacher Małgorzata Grela. The children and youth academic singing and vocal ensemble competition of such a scope was held in Latvia for the first time.
